【HiESD and WISDP submitted response to HKEX’s Consultation Paper on Review of Corporate Governance Code and Related Listing Rules (Response No.124 and 156)
The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the HKEX) published a consultation paper (the “Consultation Paper”) on 14 June 2024 to propose amendments to the Corporate Governance Code and the related Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. The HKEX is seeking public comments on its proposed Listing Rules (“Listing Rules”). The Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development (HiESD) and the World Institute of Sustainable Development Planners (WISDP) aim to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) in Hong Kong and actively participate in relevant local policies. In June, a discussion meeting was convened with HiESD’s teaching team and professionals from the WISDP, who are working in different disciplines. After summarising the result of the discussion, HiESD and WISDP submitted their responses to the consultation document.
The responses from the HiESD and the WISDP have been published on the HKEX’s official platform, Sections 124 and 156. For details, please refer to: https://www.hkex.com.hk/News/Market-Consultations/2016-to-Present/Responses_Dec_2024_2?sc_lang =zh-HK.
The HiESD and the WISDP jointly promote “sustainable development planning” (SDP), which was recognised by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs’s “partnerships for SDGs” (Project Registration Number: 26908). The SDP theory, methods, tools, and practices could integrate into various industries to help listed companies strengthen their corporate governance, performance evaluation, stakeholder communication and disclosure, etc. The third edition of the “Sustainable Development Planning” bilingual textbook will be released on the “United Nations International Day of Education” (January 24, 2025). The textbook will help enterprises implement sustainable development planning and governance.
